Bluebirds keen on Whalley

CARDIFF CITY have expressed an interest in signing former Bradford City midfielder Gareth Whalley on a free transfer, after going out-of-contract with the financially-stricken club this summer.

The Bantams told Whalley that he would be surplus to requirements at Valley Parade next season and the Ninian Park club look set to bring the Manchester-born player to South Wales.

Bluebirds boss Lennie Lawrence said: "Gareth Whalley is a player we are interested in."

The former Crewe Alexandra man admitted that a number of clubs are interested in his services.

Whalley said: "I have had a few clubs interested and I will make a decision soon."
