PSG to welcome Cardetti

The River Plate striker's contract with his club expires on Sunday and he is set to fly to France immediately to join up with his PSG team-mates for training.

The 26-year-old was reported to have signed a pre-contract with Luis Fernandez's side in March but the deal had looked in doubt when River wanted to keep hold of the prolific marksman who banged in 30 goals last season.

After also attracting interest from Lazio, Cardetti is set to move to Parc des Princes for next term.

He will train with the squad in the South of Spain and is hoping to do better in Europe than his unsuccessful stint at Spanish side Salamanca.

Fernandez is hoping that Cardetti will emulate his scoring exploits in South America and will fill the shoes of Nicolas Anelka.
