Brescia confirm Ince interest

BRESCIA have confirmed their interest in bringing Middlesbrough captain Paul Ince back to Serie A football, after talks to extend his contract with the Teesside club stalled.

The former England skipper spent a successful stint in Italy with Milan giants Internazionale between 1995 and 1997 and the Rondinelle seem ready to hand Ince a chance to have a second spell in Italian club football next season.

The 34-year-old was in negotiations extend his impressive three-year stint with Boro but issues surrounding the length of contract and coaching roles with the Riverside club have halted progress in talks and it is likely Ince will move on.

Wolves, Manchester City, and Everton have all been linked with the much-travelled midfielder but with Brescia selling Spanish ace Josep Guardiola to Roma, Ince is seen as an ideal replacement.

With the opportunity of having one more bite at Serie A football, as well as having the chance to play alongside Italian legend Roberto Baggio at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti, may be too much for Ince to resist and Boro seem resigned to losing their influential captain.

Brescia's director of football Mauro Pederzoli stated that Ince is one of several midfield targets his club are looking at.

Pederzoli said: "Djorge Tomic (Real Oviedo), Johan Walem (Standard Liege) and Ince interest us."
