Redondo hoping for Milan debut

ARGENTINE ace Fernando Redondo is ready to return for Milan after a two-year battle against injury.

Redondo was regarded as one of the best players in the world when he helped Real Madrid to the Champions League in 2000.

Milan snapped him up for £11.1 million soon after Madrid's success, only to see the star injure his right knee in one of his first training sessions with the club.

The South American has now revealed that he is hoping to make his Milan debut when the new season starts in August, more than 24 months after arriving in Serie A.

"I have a huge will to return" he said

"I risk saying that I feel better, but I can't allow myself to conclude that I'm completely over my problems.

"Many times I've had illusions, so I prefer to see my progress day-by-day.

"Soccer isn't only a passion for me, but it's also my job. I know I have a debt with Milan, with its owners, managers, coach, team-mates, supporters: they have still encouraged me. I've a big debt to pay."
