Livi looking at Nigerian hitman

LIVINGSTON have handed Nigerian striker Owolabi Ganiyu an opportunity to impress the Scottish Premier League club at their pre-season training camp in Holland.

The 29-year-old flew in on Monday and will have a week to impress manager Jim Leishman and earn himself a contract at Almondvale next season.

The former Royal Antwerp hitman carries a Belgian EU passport and is available on a free transfer after a spell in the Middle East.

Livi are keen to add to their striking options up front and Ganiyu will have his chance to impress during the club's upcoming friendly matches.

Leishman and assistant Davie Hay are looking to add depth in the striking department following the departures of David Fernandez, Nathan Lowndes, and Max Caputo.

Ganiyu has been joined in Holland with former Le Havre defender Gustave Bahoken, who is also on trial.

Meanwhile, Leishman hopes to complete a deal for former Aberdeen striker Eugene Dadi this week, after he met up with the squad on Monday.

On the possible acquisition of Dadi, Leishman told the Edinburgh Evening News: "We've been interested in Eugene for a while and the fact he travelled from Toulouse to Holland on his own is hopefully an indication of how keen he is to sign.

"Eugene isn't here as a trialist because we know what he can do, but the others are.

"Owolabi and Gus have the opportunity to stake their claims for a permanent move."
