Lescott agrees new Wolves deal

WOLVES defender Joleon Lescott has pledged his future to the club by signing a new five-year contract at Molineux.

The 19-year-old impressed for the club last season and was rated as one of the best players in Division One.

Regarded as one of the best young players outside the top-flight, the highly-rated ace has inevitably attracted the interest of a number of top clubs.

Lescott is determined to help Wolves win promotion after missing out last season in the play-offs.

"I'm really happy to have signed and that the club has the confidence in me to carry on what I've been doing for them," Lescott told the club's official website.

"What happened at the end of last season was a bitter disappointment for everyone connected with Wolves.

"Now, hopefully, we can get it right - that would be the icing on the cake for me."

Wolves boss Dave Jones was delighted to have secured the long-term future of Lescott.

"I'm very pleased because Joleon can play a big part in the future of this football club," said Jones.

"He is a sensible lad with a lot of talent and he is prepared to listen and work hard in training. This is an excellent deal for both the player and club."
