Agent rejects Blues Mendieta link

The 28-year-old is set to leave Lazio this summer after enduring a frustrating time in Rome.

The gifted midfielder has failed to settle in Serie A and has found himself in and out of the side.

Barcelona have long been linked with the former Valencia ace, but reports in Italy have suggested that Chelsea could enter the race to sign Mendieta.

Lazio are willing to cash-in on Mendieta to bring in much-needed funds.

The player's agent Alberto Toldra rejected any talk of a move to Stamford Bridge.

"There is nothing it is just press speculation," said Toldra.

The most likely destination for Mendieta seems to be a return to Spain with Barcelona as Camp Nou coach Louis van Gaal is a big fan of the player and has made his top transfer target.
