Parma tie up Bresciano deal

PARMA have won the race for the services of Empoli midfielder Mark Bresciano.

The Australian midfielder was a pivotal figure in Empoli's third place finish in Serie B and their promotion to the Italian top-flight.

Leeds United were interested in the Socceroo star but the 22-year-old has opted to stay in Italy with an estimated £8 million move to Parma.

Parma finished 10th in Serie A last term and will hope Bresciano can help them to return to the upper echelons of Serie A.

Newly-promoted Empoli face an uphill task next season having already lost star striker Massimo Maccarone to Middlesbrough and now Bresciano to Parma.

Parma's squad has also been swelled by Simeone Barone's loan return from Chievo Verona and the addition of Verona youngster Alberto Gilardino.
