Italian football is ugly - Vieri
There is a general feeling that the football in Serie A and that of the national side is too negative and Vieri echoed these sentiments.
"We need to change our mentality. Today in Italy we produce ugly football. The Spanish and English leagues are more entertaining," said Vieri.
The Azzurri were eliminated by co-hosts South Korea in the last sixteen of the World Cup after sitting on a one-goal lead and Vieri admits their approach was all wrong.
"In Korea we worried about the opposition too much," added the former Lazio forward.
The Italian mentality of scoring a goal and then putting men behind the ball for the remainder of the game has also reaped scant reward in European competition with no Serie A teams featuring in the latter stages of the Uefa Cup or Champions League.
