Hedman enjoys thought of Celtic move

COVENTRY CITY goalkeeper Magnus Hedman has stated his interest in a possible move to Scottish champions Celtic.

The Bhoys are reported to be eyeing the Sweden World Cup custodian after a proposed move to Spanish La Liga outfit Espanyol fell through.

The Scandinavian is keen to move to a club playing top-flight football in Europe, after spending last term with The Sky Blues in Division One following their relegation from The Premiership the season before.

Hedman told Expressen: "It's flattering that Celtic show interest in me. It would be a great solution.

"It is positive. I know that I am for sale for the right price. We are just in the beginning of the silly season, so much can happen.

"It will be interesting to see if Celtic are serious about it. If a serious offer does come, it can all go through quickly."

Hedman looked set for a move to the Barcelona-based side after agreeing terms with Espanyol but both clubs failed to come to terms on a transfer fee.

The Highfield Road side are looking to cash in on Hedman, rating him in the £2 million bracket but that valuation has proved to be an obstacle in the Swede's plans for moving on.

Despite the difficulties, Hedman is prepared to stay with Gary McAllister's side next season should no other offers come in for him.

Hedman told Sportbladet: "I am set to stay at Coventry. I have already had five training sessions and we will see what happens.

"You can't get everything you wish for. I might have to take another season in the first division.

"If I don't get sold, Coventry will keep me as first choice keeper, I expect."
