Doni content to stay at Atalanta

CRISTIANO DONI has insisted that he will put the disappointment of not making a move to a big club behind him, and put 100 percent into the next season for Atalanta.

The Italian World Cup star was expected to make a big money move to one of the top clubs in Italy, but the lack of money in Serie A's normally thriving transfer market has prevented this.

Although he was linked with a move to Manchester United, it appears that the Old Trafford focus is firmly on the purchase of Rio Ferdinand from Leeds - and Doni is resigned to remaining at the Nerazzuri.

"Many people have said that I'm disappointed to have not been sold to a big club - but that is not true," insisted Doni.

"I've returned to Bergamo renewed and I have the same motivation as a new player.

"Atalanta is my home, the fans love me and they showed that on the final day of last season.

"I remain hopeful that next year I will have the opportunity to sign for a great club, but if that doesn't happen then I will remain at Atalanta for the rest of my career."
