Betis reject English Denilson offer
The Spanish outfit's president Manuel Ruiz de Lopera admitted that the £20.3 million bid came from an "important English club" but that the club were not interested in selling him.
"A very impressive offer has been received for the player, but the club have rejected it," said de Lopera.
"It came from an important English club. Betis would have got a profit of £5.1m on what he cost us."
The flying winger impressed at the World Cup playing an instrumental role in Brazil's record fifth success with his blistering tricky runs down the left wing.
Denilson became the most expensive player in the world when he joined them from Sao Paulo in the summer of 1997.
The 24-year-old has failed to show his undoubted potential at Betis and has struggled during his five seasons at the club.
The skilful winger has scored just nine goals in over 100 appearances, but the club seem determined to hang onto him.
Denilson is currently recovering from a minor knee operation he delayed so he could play in the World Cup and it seems he will stay at Betis for the immediate future.
