Agent: Gudjohnsen could leave Chelsea
The Stamford Bridge club are suffering from financial difficulties and have told the Icelandic international's agent Peter Harrison that they are looking to cut back on players' wages.
The 23-year-old Gudjohnsen has been eyeing a lucrative two-year extension to his current deal with Claudio Ranieri's side and Harrison admitted that the West London club seem in no position to offer the Scandinavian hit-man what he is looking for.
Gudjohnsen's agent told BBC Sport Online that if the tall marksman cannot get a satisfactory extension to his contract, he will look for an equally lucrative move away from Stamford Bridge.
Harrison said: "Eidur is very happy at Chelsea, but we are looking for an increase in salary to give him parity with other leading players.
"He has not asked to leave the club and to be persuaded to leave a top-five team like Chelsea, it would have to be the right club.
"Maybe they will have to sell him and £15 million sounds like the right sort of figure.
"He would be interested if teams like Manchester United came in for him, but I've not yet had any contact with United."
According to Harrison, a number of Premiership clubs are reported to be monitoring Gudjohnsen's situation if indeed he decides that he wants a move to another club.
