Bees keeper in Stockport trial

STOCKPORT COUNTY are running the rule over Brentford goalkeeper Olafur Gottskalksson.

The Icelandic shot-stopper is currently on trial at Edgeley Park and figured in their pre-season friendly against Wolves on Saturday.

Gottskalksson is available on a free transfer from Brentford, although he does still have two years remaining on his contract.

Brentford placed Gottskalksson on the transfer list earlier in the year as they seek to slash their wage bill.

The 34-year-old is looking for a move and he has impressed the Stockport coaching staff during his sojourn with The Hatters.

"We are taking a look at the lad and I thought he did well," said assistant manager Kevin Richardson.

"He's also looked very commanding in training where he's dominated the penalty area."
