Reds seal Luzi deal

LIVERPOOL have completed the transfer of young goalkeeper Patrice Luzi from Monaco.

Planetfootball revealed that Gerard Houllier was tracking the 21-year-old shot-stopper and he now becomes the latest Frenchman to join The Reds in the summer sales.

Luzi, who has played just once for Monaco, arrives on a free transfer after impressing in a trial spell in Switzerland.

"I want four goalkeepers at the club. Experience says that the top clubs all have four goalkeepers and since Jorgen Nielsen left at the end of the season I always intended to bring somebody else in," explained Houllier

"Patrice Luzi was available on a free transfer from Monaco. He's not ready for the first team yet but we will work with him and improve him."

Jerzy Dudek is the current number one at Anfield but Luzi will hope to put pressure on Chris Kirkland and Pegguy Arphexad to become his deputy.
