Srnicek may benefit from Sereni misfortune

MATTEO SERENI'S unfortunate injury has meant that Pavel Srnicek looks likely to remain at Brescia as cover for the Ipswich Town player.

Sereni, on loan from Town this season, was involved in a car crash in the early hours of Sunday morning that left the goalkeeper with a dislocated hip.

Srnicek now looks set to remain at the club, but is quick to point out that the most important thing is that neither Sereni nor the other player involved Igli Tare received life-threatening injuries.

"There are so many problems," said Srnicek. "Our team has been cursed with bad luck for two years.

"What counts most is that my two companions are out of danger.

"When I heard they had been in a bad crash I feared the worse.

"My position here remains the same. I have heard nothing from the club," said the former Newcastle goalkeeper who had been linked with a return to The Premiership.

"I don't know if Brescia want to give me another chance, and I did not know before this incident.

"Nobody has ever said to me that I do not feature in the club's plans.

"I am here and always available, and I will decide what to do."
