Kahn now over final error
The imposing Bayern Munich custodian was at his fantastic best throughout the tournament, but made his one error of the competition when failing to hold Rivaldo`s low shot, allowing Ronaldo to tap home from close range.
Kahn, who broke a finger shortly before dropping the shot, feels he has put the error out of his mind and is ready to help Bayern wrestle the Bundesliga title from Borussia Dortmund.
"With 100 shots like that, I'd normally hold 99," he told Bild am Sonntag. "It's irritating that my mistake was in the World Cup final, but I've drawn a line under it now."
Looking ahead to the new season, Kahn seems optimistic, adding: "Of course we have to be champions. That's normal for Bayern, the foundation. I'm convinced that we'll show our quality."
He did add, though, that losses are part and parcel of the game, pointing to the heartbreaking Champions League defeat at the hands of Manchester United as the worst moment of his career.
He added: "If you want to get the big wins, you also have to count on the heavy losses."
