Italian rejects Stags chance
Town had hoped to see the Italian play in a friendly for the club, however the hit-man had rejoined The Owls before even kicking a football for The Stags.
Assistant manager Neil Richardson revealed the Palermo-born forward trained with the club last week, but did not enjoy the training session.
"Michele Di Piedi was supposed to train on Friday, but word got back that he didn't enjoy Thursday's training and he has gone back to Sheffield Wednesday so, as far as I know, it's all over," said Richardson.
Meanwhile, the club have revealed they are mulling over whether to bring back former striker Iyseden Christie to the Field Mill.
The Coventry-born striker played for the club for two seasons from 1997-99 scoring 18 goals during that time, before signing for Leyton Orient, but is now out of contract and looking for a new side.
"Everyone knows what Iyseden has done in the past and he has been a good player for The Stags," continued Richardson.
"He's looked very sharp and has added a bit of pace to the front line. He's got a goal and he might add a little bit of extra for us."
