Croissant joins Telstar

SHEFFIELD UNITED have allowed former Troyes defender Benoit Croissant to join Telstar on a year's loan.

The 21-year-old did not feature in The Blades first team last season, after signing on a free transfer from the French side back in August 2001.

United have built up strong relations with Telstar after dealing with the club over the capture of Laurens Ten Heuvel last month.

Croissant teamed up with the Dutch club last month for a trial, but has now been given the opportunity to stay for the whole season.

"This will be good for Benoit - hopefully he will come back a better player for the experience," said United manager Neil Warnock (pictured).

"We have agreed an option to bring him back after three months should we need to, and at the end of the season."
