Saez names first Spanish squad
Saez faces a major problem, with Spain's World Cup centre of defence - Fernando Hierro and Miguel Angel Nadal having both retired from international football.
Hence Saez's main newcomers are in defence with Real Betis's Juanito, Carlos Marchena (pictured) of Valencia and Atletico Madrid's Jose Antonio Garcia Calvo in the squad.
Speaking about his plans, Saez said: "My job is to rebuild where the squad has lost players.
"I've brought in players that I know will all work hard."
Raul Bravo has been rewarded for his polished performances having been promoted to Real Madrid's first team with an international call-up whilst midfielder Pablo Orbaiz is something of a surprise inclusion.
Sunderland target Raul Tamudo has been given a chance to impress as Diego Tristan is still missing with an injury he picked up during the World Cup.
Saez added: "Most players who were at the World Cup started training later than everyone else and I don't want to force them back.
"There will be other players in better shape in September, but we want to have a look at these players first.
"Almost all of them have been with me in the U21 team.
"These are players I have worked with since they were 16 or 17 years old, they've all been in the U-20s, the U-21s or played in the Olympic Games."
