Carini shocker for Gunners
The Premiership champions had agreed to sign the goalkeeper on a year's loan from Juventus, and it was believed that he had put pen-to-paper at Highbury.
At the time of the deal being announced by Arsenal, there was some confusion as Carini told the Italian media: "If I leave Juventus, it is in order to play and be in the team.
"At Arsenal, there is David Seaman, therefore I prefer to remain here where I repeat I am very well and have a magnificent relationship with my team-mates."
Yet Arsene Wenger's side seemed to have convinced Carini to forget his desire to play regularly, with the youngster expected to act as cover for England veteran Seaman.
"Carini has not yet been registered because he has not yet signed his contract," confirmed Wenger.
"We were under the impression that personal terms had been agreed, but that has turned out not to be the case.
"We will know in the next 48 hours if the matter will be resolved.
"But I have to say I am not optimistic and, if he returns to Juventus, then I have a problem.
"I cannot go into the season with just two goalkeepers - David Seaman and Stuart Taylor.
"I need another goalkeeper but, because of the transfer window, I have to sign a new one by the end of the month."
