Tolley signs new Shrews deal

SHREWSBURY TOWN have handed teenage midfielder Jamie Tolley a two-year contract extension.

Tolley has been rewarded for his impressive progress at Gay Meadow and has established himself as a regular in the Shrews' engine room.

The 19-year-old is now tied to the Third Division outfit until 2006 and was delighted manager Kevin Ratcliffe had opted to give him a new deal.

"The gaffer offered me the extension the other day. We've sat down and discussed it and it's good news for me," Tolley told the club's official website.

"The contract takes me through until I'm about 22 and it offers me security and I'm glad to be signing a new contract with Shrewsbury.

"It's always good to sign that second contract as it offers you security but also shows that you've done well over the previous contract.

"It's now down to me to do well and hopefully sign another one.

"I've come on leaps and bounds since the gaffer and Foggy have been helping me and this is a recognition of all the hard work and dedication I've put in."
