Bolder dashes Grimsby's hopes
The first half saw two goals but will be most remembered for a sickening clash between Danny Higginbotham and Steve Livingstone that had the veteran striker slipping in and out of consciouness and stopped the game for well over ten minutes.
Eventually Livingstone departed the pitch for the local hospital where prognosis is good for his full recovery.
Naturally after such a long stoppage it took some time for the game to get back to its pace and indeed when it did Grimsby took the lead in the 37th minute.
A long diagonal ball saw Mart Poom come off his line as Phil Jevons pressurised, the keeper was forced to head clear and only succeeded in picking out Darren Barnard who fired in a great half volley from 35 yards out.
However, the visitors hit back just five minutes later when Malcolm Christie did well to lay the ball off to Adam Murray and his cross found Bolder sneaking in at the back post to head across Danny Coyne and into the net.
The timing of the match was thrown out of kilter with fourteen minutes of added on time at the end of the half and on such a warm day both teams were undoubtedly tired.
Upon the restart Fabrizio Ravanelli showed poor touch and form as on 51 minutes Paul Groves missed the ball to send the Italian clean through, only for him to hit it too far ahead of him and Coyne to collect.
Then twice in a minute Rava showed both sides of his game, a terrible finish with his right was eclipsed by a brilliant effort with his left that bounced just past the post.
With 20 minutes to go Derby's star striker missed a second one-on-one opportunity, firing wide when well placed but Bolder made up for it with his second of the game.
A quarter of an hour remained when Coyne did brilliantly to save from Lee Morris, Stephen Twigg's header was blocked but Bolder picked the loose ball up and smashed it in off the underside of the bar for the eventual winner.
Grimsby went close, with Terry Cooke's shot just over and Jevons having his 'goal' disallowed as the ball hit a combination of his head and arm, but overall, the visitors were worth their victory.
