Litmanen explains Reds misery
The Finnish icon, 31, has never been first choice under Gerard Houllier and the summer arrival of Senegal front-man El Hadji Diouf has pushed the former Ajax man further down the pecking order.
"Liverpool are one of the favourites for the title but they might have a bigger problem keeping everyone happy at the club if they are not playing regularly," Litmanen said in The Sun.
"Houllier is the boss. At Liverpool nobody argues with him and I will not either. I just have to accept my situation - even if it makes me very miserable.
"I would really like to play a bigger part in our championship bid.
"If I look at the last two seasons, I have to admit that it has not made me happy.
"I wanted more out of this move but when you are not playing it is difficult to remain enthusiastic."
Litmanen has played under 30 matches for Liverpool, the club he supported as a boy, often being used as a substitute to try and turn games.
