City hand Algerian short-term deal
Kerkar joined City on trial earlier this month and he has done enough to win a short-term deal.
He scored two goals in the pre-season win at Tranmere after being recommended to Kevin Keegan by compatriot Ali Benarbia.
The player's agent Willie McKay confirmed that he had signed a short-term deal so that both parties can assess each other before deciding if the deal should become more permanent.
"Karim has signed a three-month contract with Manchester City," McKay told Planetfootball.com.
"It gives both parties the opportunity to have a closer look at each other."
The 25-year-old is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at French side Le Havre.
