Millwall sign Irish youngster

MILLWALL have signed young defender Tim Clancy to a one-year deal after impressing during a trial spell with The New Den outfit.

The Irishman put pen to paper with The Lions before appearing in a reserve match against Barnet on Wednesday after making previous appearances for Millwall's youth sides.

Millwall boss Mark McGhee has been busy snapping up new signings with Belgian midfielder Christophe Kinet re-joining the South-East London club last week following a brief spell away while he unsuccessfully looked for another club this summer.

The Lions are still awaiting a decision from Fifa about the possibility that clubs in the Football League will receive an exemption to the closing of the transfer window with the deadline taking place this Saturday and McGhee has decided to make sure that Clancy is signed before the August 31 deadline.

McGhee will hope Clancy can help boost his side's fortunes, as The Lions have had a horrible start to the new campaign in Division One - having taken only two points from their first four matches to leave them sitting second from bottom in the table.
