Ronaldo does not interest us - Van Gaal

LOUIS VAN GAAL has dispelled speculation that Barcelona are ready to bring football's golden boy Ronaldo back to Camp Nou after stating Dutch international striker Patrick Kluivert already fills that role in the team.

Barca's name had been linked with a 12-month loan swoop for the Brazilian superstar, however Van Gaal has stated the hit-man is simply not on their wanted list.

The Catalan giants were reportedly chasing the World Cup winner, after the star's protracted move to Real Madrid collapsed when Internazionale rejected the European Champions' meagre offer.

"Ronaldo does not interest us," said Van Gaal. "In that role we already have Kluivert, who is probably one of the best in the world."

The 25-year-old enjoyed one highly successful season for Barca, after joining from PSV Eindhoven in 1996, scoring 42 goals helping the team to win virtually every trophy going, except La Liga title, under then manager Bobby Robson.
