Bolton seal Campo deal - Bulent cleared
The Spanish international has signed a season-long loan deal with The Trotters and ends a prolonged chase by Bolton boss Sam Allardyce.
"We are thoroughly delighted to sign Ivan after weeks of hard negotiating," said Allardyce.
"He has returned to Spain to sort out some personal affairs and will return next week.
"Due to his situation at Real Madrid, he's not had much match practice and will require two to three weeks before he reaches the right level of match fitness."
Allardyce also revealed that Bolton almost signed Ronny Johnsen, before Aston Villa swooped, leading to The Trotters signing Holdsworth.
"I was almost promised that Ronny Johnsen was going to join us this week, but Aston Villa stepped in at the last minute," he said.
"That was a great shame but that's life in the Premiership. When you offer the least you can't get what you want until nobody else wants it."
Former Sheffield United and Birmingham stopper Holdsworth will link up with his brother Dean at The Reebok, the first time they have played in the same team since they were trainees at Watford 16 years ago.
Another piece of good news for Bolton, though, is the news that Turkish midfielder Akin Bulent has finally received international clearance from Fifa.
"Bulent's clearance has come through now," Allardyce continued.
"He has had four or five spells in games behind closed doors and some time in the next few weeks he'll get his test in the Premiership."
Finally, Allardyce aimed a swipe at Tottenham over their handling of their interest in Bolton striker Michael Ricketts.
"I have been extremely disappointed this week by Tottenham Hotspur and their upsetting of Michael Ricketts over an alleged proposed transfer," he said.
"They never got anywhere near anybody's valuation which they'd known for an awful long time.
"I think they have conducted their business very, very poorly not only in terms of keeping it between us and them but that Michael's agent has got to know about the situation.
"How that leaves Michael I don't know until I speak to him. I just hope that he understands that Tottenham never really did want him, otherwise they would have paid the £7.5m they have just paid for Robbie Keane.
"Their offer for Michael never got anywhere near that point they only offered a small amount of money with players in exchange who were no good to my squad."
