Munitis still eyeing Reds move
REAL MADRID striker Pedro Munitis has not given up on securing a move to Liverpool, saying his loan spell with Racing Santander will give him the chance to show what he can do.
The arrival of Ronaldo at Santiago Bernabeu will further limit first team chances for Munitis and he has decided to return to Santander on a loan deal.
Liverpool had been linked with a move for him during the summer and the Spanish international says he has still not given up on impressing Reds boss Gerard Houllier to secure a move to Anfield during the winter transfer window.
"For me, the door is not closed," Munitis told planetfootball.com. "I know that Liverpool will be looking at me for the rest of the year, and I am going to try my best."
A pre-season injury and lack of first team chances meant that Munitis had no chance of a move to England during the summer, but he is hoping to impress Houllier at Santander.
"It all depended on Real, but it could not have been.
"In any case, things can change and I have more chance of playing at Racing and Houllier can see me in better conditions.
"In Madrid it was hard to play, that is indeed what I need now. There were other options, but I believe that I have chosen the best one."
Munitis's agent Javier Gonzalez says that Liverpool are still interested in Munitis and could be prepared to come in for him during the winter should he perform at Santander.
Real will also be hoping that he regains his form while out on loan as he has also been one of the names mentioned as being available to Inter during the winter as part of the Ronaldo deal.
