Telstar sign Sunderland stopper
STORMVOGELS TELSTAR have snapped up Sunderland's transfer-listed Baki Mercimek.
The defender spent eight seasons with the Ajax youth academy and was being dubbed 'the new Jaap Stam' in Holland, but he has failed to make an impact at Stadium of Light.
Peter Reid has been keen to trim his playing staff, after listing eight members of his squad some time ago, and will be pleased that Mercimek should be able to obtain first team football with Gouden Gids Divisie outfit Telstar.
The transfer is on a loan basis, and was sealed before the European window closed.
Mercimek was brought to Wearside by Reid back in 2001 after his contract with HFC Haarlem expired.
