Barton: Rams players are behind the club
The Rams players and all football staff were not paid for the month of August as officials try and sort out a refinancing deal for the cash-strapped club.
Derby are over £30 million in debt and are considering two takeover bids for the Division One outfit with intense discussions having taken place over the last few days.
The Rams have stressed that the players are kept abreast of the current situation as Derby tries to pull out of financial peril.
Barton told The Evening Telegraph: "The club has kept us informed of the situation.
"Obviously, we are seeking whatever assurances we can and the PFA are fully aware of aware of what is going on.
"Even if we are not paid before the weekend, all the players are determined to be absolutely professional about this.
"We will be preparing for the Burnley game in exactly the same way as always."
Mick McGuire, deputy chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association warned that until the club's financial future is secure, the players will have to expect not to be paid.
McGuire said: "We have spoken with Warren Barton, who is Derby County's PFA representative and delegate at the club, and are due to speak to him again.
"While players not being paid wages is very serious, we believe the players are fully aware of the position at the club.
"The banks will not release money until a new consortium is in place. Only then will much-needed cash be injected into the club."
Meanwhile, Finnish international Simo Valakari could return to full training next week after recovering from a long-term ankle injury.
The 29-year-old has missed a major part of the last two seasons with hip and ankle problems but hopes to return to action for The Rams by the end of September.
