Auer makes Mainz switch
OUT-OF-FAVOUR German Under-21 striker Benjamin Auer has left Borussia Monchengladbach for second division Mainz.
Auer had been facing a season on the sidelines at the Bokelberg Stadium after falling out with the Gladbach management team over disagreements of a new contract.
Both the Foals and Mainz have yet to provide any details of the transfer, but it is believed that Gladbach will receive around ‚é¼500,000 plus a percentage of any future sell-on fee for the talented striker.
Auer has signed a deal keeping him in Mainz for the rest of the current season, but it is widely expected that he will then move on to a bigger club irrespective of Mainz gaining promotion to the Bundesliga.
German media reports have already linked him with Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Hertha Berlin and Hamburg.
