Beasley move on hold

UNITED STATES World Cup star DaMarcus Beasley has pledged his immediate future to Chicago Fire and put thoughts of a move to The Premiership on the back-burner.

Promising winger Beasley had been linked with a switch to Middlesbrough and West Brom but a transfer to England failed to materialise.

Middlesbrough refuted reports they were preparing a late swoop for Beasley ahead of last Saturday's transfer deadline because of their interest in Jesper Blomqvist.

But the Swede joined Charlton instead, and Boro boss Steve McClaren may re-align his sights to Beasley when the transfer window opens in January.

In the interim, Beasley is concentrating on his Chicago Fire career in the MLS, although the club admitted there had been discussions with European clubs.

"DaMarcus has generated lots of interest and there were talks with European teams but he is not going anywhere for the moment," said club spokeswoman Diana Lopez.

"He wants to help the Fire as we head into the play-offs."
