Schmeichel junior joins City
Kasper Schmeichel has signed a contract that will see him go through schoolboy, scholar and professional levels after being given advice by his father.
Speaking about the deal, Peter Schmeichel (pictured) said: "I've found the club to be very well organised, with professional people, great coaching staff and a terrific manager.
"I'm thrilled Kasper is going to be part of all this. I know he's really excited about what the future may hold for him here.
"My wife and I are delighted my son has impressed the management and staff enough to be offered such a wonderful opportunity.
"And we're equally delighted that Kasper will make his first steps to achieving his football ambitions with Manchester City."
Like his father, Kasper is a goalkeeper and manager Kevin Keegan added his delight to the news, telling City's official website: "I'm delighted Kasper has joined us - and by offering him this deal, it's obvious we think highly of his ability.
"If he continues to work as hard as he has done so far, he may even be able to follow in his father's footsteps."
