Doo-Ri Cha explains Bundesliga dream

SOUTH KOREAN World Cup ace Doo-Ri Cha has spoken of his dream move to Germany and his recent debut in the recent 1-1 draw against Kaiserslautern.

The powerful striker joined Bayer Leverkusen, who his father Bum-Kun Cha used to play for, after the 2002 finals and was loaned out to Arminia Bielefeld for experience.

The 22-year-old Korean ace is revelling in life in Germany and was delighted to finally make his debut for Bielefeld as a late substitute.

"It is a dream come true for me," Cha told the 'Frankfurter Allgemeine' "My target was always the Bundesliga."

On his debut, Doo-Ri Cha revealed that he had butterflies in his stomach prior to coming on, declaring: "I only know the Betzenberg from the television. I was very nervous."

The highly-rated front-man has picked up German quickly to help settle in to his new surroundings and just wants to prove he is good enough to play in the German top-flight.

"If I could not understand the people in Germany I would be lonely. I want to show everyone that I can play football because I enjoy it and not just because of my father," added the star.

Bielefeld coach Benno Mohlmann is confident that the loan signing "will make it" at the top level and Bayer general manager Ilja Kaenzig admitting the German runners-up were "waiting on his further development" before bringing him into the Leverkusen set-up.
