Davids staying for season

EDGAR DAVIDS will now remain with Juventus for the rest of the season, but will be able to move clubs at the end of the campaign.

The Dutch midfielder had looked to be heading to Roma but that deal finally fell through due to the disagreement over the transfer fee.

Juve general manager Luciano Moggi and Roma president Franco Sensi had a bitter row over the value of Davids that could well end up with the Stadio Olimpico side missing out.

The Turin side will only sell Davids if he has a good enough season to ensure a good price for his transfer, but Roma may well be excluded from making any bids for the player.

The move is to ensure that Davids has his mind on his football at Delle Alpi as if he still wants to leave he must play well to earn a big-money switch away from the club.

Sensi will be bitterly disappointed should Davids have a great season but then move to another Serie A side as a result of his feud with Moggi.
