Torrado out for a month

SEVILLA'S Copa del Rey victory came at a cost with Mexican international midfielder Gerardo Torrado out for at least a month.

Torrado picked up a foot injury, which after further tests has been revealed a fracture to the fifth metacarpal.

Having eased to a 3-0 win over Jaen, the loss of Torrado is an unexpected and unfortunate blow for Joaquin Caparros's side.

The Mexican international arrived from Polideportivo Ejido from the Segunda Liga in the winter of 2001 and has impressed in the Spanish top-flight and at the World Cup and this is the first serious injury of his Sevilla career.

"Now I was just entering the plans of the coach of the teams, this is the reason why the injury comes at the worst possible moment.

"Anyway, I'm only thinking about returning to fitness to play."

The injury will not require an operation but Torrado will be off his feet for five days.

Torrado's next step is to gain Spanish citizenship, which would make it easier for him to find another European side, with Italy a possibility.
