Roberts earns two-year Millwall deal

MILLWALL have extended the contract of midfielder Andy Roberts to a two-year deal with the Division One club.

The 28-year-old was offered a one-year deal by Lions boss Mark McGhee after returning on an initial one-month contract with The New Den outfit, following his release from London rivals Wimbledon in the summer.

However, Roberts has agreed to a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2003/04 campaign and McGhee told the Millwall official website of his delight to have signed a player who has been in excellent form for The Lions this season.

McGhee said: "He's getting fitter and stronger with every game. Against Portsmouth he looked like the Andy Roberts I remember and he is beginning to emerge into the player we know."

Millwall will need Roberts to maintain his fine form as a poor start to the season has the club lying 18th in the Division One table.
