Roma looking for reinforcements

ROMA are currently scouring Europe in a bid to strengthen their squad following opening-day defeats in Serie A and the Champions League.

Fabio Capello's team crashed to a shock league defeat at the hands of Bologna last weekend, and followed up the loss with a 3-0 thrashing by Real Madrid at the Stadio Olimpico.

Although the Roman outfit cannot bring in fresh faces until the transfer window re-opens next January, the club's president Franco Sensi is drawing up a star-studded shortlist.

Despite having the likes of Marcos Cafu, Walter Samuel and Vincent Candela in the squad, Sensi is reportedly targeting Internazionale's Daniele Adani and Panathinaikos's Angelos Bassinas to boost the defence.

Capello is reportedly interested in signing former Juventus target Oliver Dacourt (pictured) from Premiership side Leeds United.

However, with the former Lens and Everton star making a return to the first team at Elland Road, it appears as though the future of the 27-year-old now lies with the Yorkshire club.

Meanwhile, up front, Roma are eyeing a move for Ajax's young Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic and also German World Cup star Miroslav Klose.

The 21-year-old Ibrahimovic was unhappy at the Amsterdam ArenA during the off-season, but is now keen to stay with the Dutch champions and is back on form after netting a superb brace of goals in Tuesday's 2-1 Champions League win over Lyon.
