Sorin Silvestre swap deal mooted

JUAN PABLO SORIN is still being actively pursued by Manchester United, according to the Italian media, with Mikael Silvestre being offered as part of the deal.

Sorin has long been linked with a move to Manchester United, who despite their stellar squad appear to be missing a spark thus far this season.

Lazio's summer finance problems may be behind them, at least for a short time, but the prospect of offloading Sorin quickly may well still appeal to the Roman club's board.

The suggestion that Silvestre will be part of the deal is a more recent rumour, with suggestions that the French defender would relish the opportunity to prove his prior critics wrong.

Silvestre is still haunted by the bad reception he received when playing for Internazionale, and could be offered the chance to prove his worth.

Sorin's quality is beyond question, with the wing back one of only a handful of Argentinians to escape a sorry World Cup with their reputations untouched.

A tireless worker who is capable of being a real threat going forward on top of his defensive duties, Sorin has been admired by Sir Alex Ferguson for some time.
