Dawson's right up Tel's creek

LEEDS UNITED manager Terry Venables is reportedly keeping tabs on Nottingham Forest's promising defender Michael Dawson.

The youngster has made only four senior appearances for The City Ground outfit, since signing professional terms over the summer.

Dawson, who is the youngest of three brothers, has a good pedigree, after twice being named Forest's Academy Player of the Year and having been capped at England Under-17 and Under-19 level.

Venables (pictured) has already bemoaned the lack of strength and depth in United's defensive and midfield ranks, and is hoping to bring one or two new faces to the club when the transfer window reopens.

The former Crystal Palace and Portsmouth manager is believed to have been in attendance at Blundell Park to oversee Forest's 3-0 win over Grimsby.
