Kahn offers to step down
Brdaric slotted the ball into the net, despite referee Helmut Krug blowing for offside, and an angry Kahn raced out of his goal to grab onto the neck of the marksman and shake him with his vast strength.
The 37th minute incident saw Brdaric and Kahn both booked but it was the latter who came in for heavy criticism in the German media.
"If someone is of the opinion that I can't fulfil this task of course I will step down as captain," the under-fire Kahn told 'Kicker'.
Rudi Voller backed his skipper, claiming the giant custodian would learn from the experience and come out the stronger.
"Olli knows that the action was not on. He will think about it and do something different in the future," said Voller.
"He is a goalkeeper with emotions and through that he has become so good. We should not dramatise the incident. The discussions will not affect Olli."
The Bayern Munich shot-stopper picked up the tag 'Genghis Kahn' following a lunge 'like a martial arts fighter' on Heiko Herrlich in a fiercely-contested match with Borussia Dortmund in the 1999/00.
