Gaucci: I may cut Amoruso
The often outspoken president saw his side crumble to an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Empoli, and has blasted the players - with Amoruso and Roberto Baronio earmarked for special criticism.
"When we brought in Amoruso he was a player we thought would allow us to take the step up in terms of quality," said Gaucci.
"But, along with Baronio he is just treading water.
"If they think they have arrived to do exactly what they please then they are mistaken.
"They have very little time to change things round or I will cut them from the squad."
Everton's interest in the player was well publicised in the summer, with Amoruso admitting he would love the chance to play in The Premiership.
However, Rangers' interest is much more recent, and it appears they view Amoruso as an alternative to Turkish target Hakan Sukur.
Gaucci had hinted that Amoruso would be leaving Perugia earlier in the summer, and it appears that the bad blood between the pair may well force the striker to change club.
