Rossi happy to upset the status quo

The former River Plate striker scored the vital equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield, and is looking forward with relish to the trip to Valencia.

"After eliminating Celtic in the previous round, we already demonstrated that we are not a bad team, but the results against Spartak and Liverpool have surprised us for certain," he told the Spanish media.

"To eliminate a team like Celtic was sincerely unthinkable with the stars they had meant it was a miracle for us.

"Perhaps we are the weakest team of the 32 Champions League sides, but if we play with concentration, without euphoria, with responsibility, we can wage war with anyone.

"I believe, until now, that is what we are doing.

"We must continue playing 100 percent because, when we play badly, the rivals will not pardon the errors."

The modest hit-man is quick to play down the suggestion that he is in the shop window, and could attract a bid from a bigger club.

"It's most important that everybody speaks of Basel and not Rossi," he asserted.

"That people say 'Basel played well and were able to draw in Liverpool.

"If that happens, soon people are going to ask why Basel are getting these results.

"And perhaps, then, some players will have the possibility of going to a better team but, the most important thing, is that the team plays well."
