Ibagaza applies for Spanish citizenship

MALLORCA'S Argentine midfielder Ariel Ibagaza has made the decision to apply for Spanish citizenship.

Lawyers for the player will submit an application to the Spain's Department of the Interior to have Ibagaza become a dual Spanish-Argentine citizen.

His efforts to complete his citizenship application has been delayed after some documents the midfielder possessed had expired.

Ibagaza's lawyers state that the 26-year-old can retain both nationalities for only a year.

'El Sewer' joined Mallorca in 1998 from Argentine club Lanus following the recommendation of current Internazionale boss Hector Cuper.

He has made 115 appearances in La Liga - scoring 15 goals during that time - and earned himself a winner's medal in the Spanish Supercopa two years ago.
