Pilgrims take Blades youngster on loan
The 20-year-old made his debut in the league with The Pilgrims as they went down to a 2-0 defeat at Macclesfield Town on Saturday.
The Sheffield-born youngster is an England youth international and has been a regular in The Blades reserves.
Thompson has yet to make his first team debut at Bramall Lane club since signing professionally with them in August 2001 and Blades boss Neil Warnock has allowed the midfielder earn some playing time with the Division Three new-boys.
Meanwhile, striker Daryl Clare has apologised to the club's supporters following his row with manager Neil Thompson.
Clare requested to be put on the transfer list after an ongoing dispute following his refusal to appear as a substitute during the 3-1 home defeat against Oxford United last month.
He was fined and transfer-listed for the incident but was then taken off of it two weeks ago.
However, Clare has done a turnabout and submitted a written transfer request and has attracted the interest of Conference high-flyers Chester City.
Despite his desire to leave, both Clare and Thompson met to iron out their differences and the hit-man has pledged to stay with Boston for at least the short term.
Clare said: "Neil and I have had a long overdue sensible chat, and we've decided that the best way forward is for me to return to playing football in the short term.
"I've made up my mind that my long-term future is away from Boston but for now I want to help the team out.
"It's time to bury the hatchet and move on."
