Sigurdsson forced out of Iceland squad
Sigurdsson, along with international team-mates Eidur Gudjohnsen, Hermann Hreidarsson and Birkir Kristinsson, went to the 'Thorvaldsenbar' nightclub on Saturday evening after their Euro 2004 defeat to Scotland.
The West Brom stopper was approached by a fan later in the night, who criticised Iceland's poor display and in response Sigurdsson through his drink all over the person and was thrown out of the club.
Icelandic TV station Channel 2 spoke to a number of people, who described Sigurdsson as being 'very drunk'.
Sigurdsson has now withdrawn from the squad after the incident.
"I have decided to withdraw from the national squad ahead of the Lithuania game after violating squad rules," he said.
"I regret this mistake and hope the team and the coach will have tranquility to prepare for the important match on Wednesday."
Olafur Orn Bjarnason of Grindavik has been called up as replacement, much to the annoyance of many in Iceland - who wanted to see Bolton's Gudni Bergsson back in the national fold.
Bergsson has not been included for Iceland since a clash over flights when they were playing against Spain in 1997.
The Bolton defender was not allowed to fly directly from London, as the rest of the squad were flying from Iceland - he has since been left out of all squads, with rumours that the Icelandic Football Association are vetoing his selection.
