Belletti looking for dual nationality

VILLARREAL defender Juliano Belletti is hoping to gain dual nationality with an Italian passport within the next three weeks, which would undoubtably see his stock rise.

Belletti himself announced his plans after talks with the authorities went favourably and the move would certainly benefit Romanian midfielder Constantin Galca, who is currently unused by coach Benito Floro - being the odd man in four.

The Brazilian international has signed a contract until June 2007 with Villarreal, having previously played for the likes of Cruzeiro, Atletico Mineiro and Sao Paulo.

With the sacking of coach Victor Munoz, it has taken longer for Belletti to adapt to Spanish football, but he is now beginning to show the type of form he is capable of.

Belletti said: "Spanish football is very competitive and its league is the equal of any of the best ones in the world."

Villarreal have not started the season well, with just three points from five games.
