Candela happy to stay in Rome

ROMA defender Vincent Candela has dismissed reports linking him with a possible move to Juventus.

Reports emanating from Italy suggest that the bianconeri are weighing up a move for the full back when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The French international has endured a difficult start to the season with the giallorossi and has been linked with a move to England, but Candela insists he has no plans to leave the Stadio Olimpico.

"I've not had any contact with Juventus and I don't feel as if I'm preparing to leave Roma," said Candela.

"Obviously the fact that I was jeered by our fans earlier this season wasn't great but I have never thought that my time here was coming to an end. I'm staying with Roma."

Meanwhile, Juve have also been linked with a move for Internazionale's Colombian defender Ivan Cordoba.

The Italian champions are keen to bolster their defence with Paolo Montero out injured with a knee problem and they see Cordoba as an ideal replacement.

They may be willing to sell Cordoba and move summer signing Fabio Cannavaro into his familiar position of centre back having played him as a full back in some games this season.

Juve may use long-term Inter target Gianluca Zambrotta as an option in a swap deal for Cordoba.
