Amoroso attacks Sammer policy

MARCIO AMOROSO claims Borussia Dortmund can win the Champions League but only if coach Matthias Sammer uses his talents properly.

The Brazilian marksman, top-scorer for The Schwarz-Gelben last term, has been mainly used as a substitute with 20 minutes to go and feels Sammer needs to play him from the start to reap the rewards of his talent.

"Matthias Sammer wants to build me up slowly. I am in agreement with that because the coach wants what is best for me," said Amoroso in an interview with Die Welt.

"But now I can play 90 minutes.

"If I play well for Dortmund then my chances of a comeback (to the national team) increase. But I must play and not from 50 or 60 minutes.

"I was bought for a lot of money to score goals. If I have to play too far back I am too far away from the goal and it is then difficult to help the team with my goals. That's the problem."

Despite the moaning Amoroso still pledged his allegiance to Dortmund and set his goals high for this season.

"I am happy here. The fans love me and that means a lot," continued Amoroso

"We have a good chance to win the Champions League. The team has a lot of quality and all our players have a very good attitude."

While Dortmund are the German champions a serious challenge in Europe's premier competition seems over ambitious, considering the presence of some of Europe's star-studded outfits.
